Made for the Hellfire Sculpting Club's monthly challenge, topic of the month: Trypophobia.
The composition is inspired by The Incredulity of Saint Thomas (Caravaggio).
This wasn't the case when I first sculpted the figure with the holes in it,
but it quickly became the case as soon as I added the first monk.
For the background I used an image from the Tapestry of the Apocalypse,
exhibited in the town of Angers: ‘La Grande Prostituée sur les eaux’.

I like the association between the sculpture and symbolism of the tapestry, between temptation, depravity and threat.
